About Viamo

About Viamo – an independent guide to getting from A to B. Who is behind it and how we work.

Viamo is an independent guide to getting from A to B. Our goal is simple: to make planning and taking a journey easier, so that first-time and seasoned travellers alike find clear, practical answers.

We cover the whole journey — from route guides between cities and countries and how to travel by rail, by sea and by road, to borders and entry rules and the case for slow travel. It is all gathered in one A–Z index of guides.

Independent and free

Viamo is free to use and independent. We give advice plainly and even-handedly. The site may carry adverts and links to partners, but this does not influence our editorial content or our recommendations.

How we make our content

Every guide starts from a clear question a traveller is asking. We combine first-hand experience with current sources, bring it together and explain it in plain language, and the team reviews each piece before it is published. Content is updated regularly, and every guide shows when it was last updated.

For the things that change, we point to official sources such as national rail and ferry operators, the European Commission on entry rules, and government travel advice. Timetables, fares and visa rules change quickly, so we always encourage you to double-check the critical details before you travel.
