Hamad International Airport (DOH) is one of the best-connected airports in the Gulf, and getting into Doha is straightforward: the Doha Metro's Red Line runs directly from the airport into the city centre in well under half an hour, and Karwa taxis and buses cover everything the metro doesn't. Doha Metro: the fast, cheap default

The Red Line of the Doha Metro has its own station built into Hamad International, reached by a short, clearly signposted walk from the terminal. Trains are modern, air-conditioned and run frequently throughout the day, with journey time to Msheireb — the interchange station in the heart of downtown Doha, connecting to the Metro's Gold and Green lines — of around 20–25 minutes.

Fares are very low and paid with a rechargeable Karwa Smartcard (Doha Metro's fare card) available from vending machines at the station, or as a single-journey ticket for a short visit. Getting to specific districts

The Metro's Red Line and its interchange at Msheireb cover most of what a visitor needs: the Corniche and Souq Waqif are a short walk or a quick taxi from Msheireb station, while West Bay, Doha's high-rise business district, is served by its own Metro stations a little further up the line. For hotels in The Pearl-Qatar or further-flung parts of the city, a taxi or ride-hailing app from the airport is usually simpler than a Metro-plus-taxi combination.

Arriving late at night or with a very early flight

Hamad International operates around the clock, but the Metro does not run all night, so travellers on very late or very early flights should check the current first and last train times before relying on it.
